My work, fundamentally, is about form and visual possibility. I am fascinated and inspired by the physical act of painting. I approach my work in almost sculptural terms. I paint using a layered process of creation, destruction, and renewal. Each new layer effaces elements of the previous layer, leaving vestiges of color, line and form. I then build upon these vestiges and traces. I repeat this process until a vision has been achieved. My goal is to create a compositional balance which maintains energy, tension, and mystery. Change defines life, and it defines my paintings. I offer these works as moments in time. It is my hope that over time these works will continue to speak, and present themselves in multi-dimensional ways. Ultimately, it is my desire to inspire a sense of beauty, mystery, and inner reflection. |
